Storyline

The action is in the quiet seaside town of Monterey, where Jane Chapman recently moved with her young son. Here the girl gets to know Madeline Martha Mackenzie and Celeste Wright (Nicole Kidman), who are welcoming the new woman in the city. This is how the friendship of the three mothers begins, each of which has already got experience in family life. Each of them has its own worries, hardships and joys. They live normal lives for this city: they are bringing up children, doing the housework, and also meet with friends to discuss the latest gossip.

 

Over time, Jane begins to understand that life in a quiet, at first glance, city is not so calm. Citizens of Monterey, especially the womankind, ruthlessly compete with each other, trying to find out – who is richer. This behavior of citizens generates a lot of bad rumors, dirty intrigues, secret conspiracies and treacherous betrayals. Every day the intensity of passions continues to grow inexorably, and the mutual dislike between the inhabitants comes closer to the critical point. And here at the charity ball at school there is a mysterious murder…
